Women's Health and Family Planning
- All contraceptive methods offered: Combined oral contraception pill, progesterone only pill, depot progesterone injection, EVRA patch, nuvaring, Mirena Insertion, referral for vasectomy.
- Emergency contraception
- Non directive counseling for crisis pregnancies is also available
- Period problems, polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Menopause management
- Osteoporosis assessment, testing and treatment where indicated
- Preconception counseling
- Infertilty advice and bloods tests
- Pregnancy testing
- Antenatal and Postnatal Care is combined with hospital obstetricians at Sligo Regional Hospital
- Cervical smear screening programme
The Cervical screening programme smears are due every 3 years from the ages of 25-45, then every 5 years until 60. Smears are free if eligible on the cervical smear programme. If not eligible for smear, private smears can be performed.
- Breast Screening
Mammograms are available through breast checks programme for women aged between 50-64, every 2 years.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases Screening
- Confidential and Discrete examination screening for sexually transmitted diseases is provided in a relaxed environment.
- Full examination with swabs for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
- Blood tests for HIV, Hepatitis B and C and syphilis.
- Follow up, treatment and referral if necessary is included.
Child's Health
Your child's needs are very important.
Dr. Margaret will always see a sick child on the same day, if there is parental concern.

Mens Health
Men are more likely to develop high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer and to become dependent upon alcohol than women, yet on average men seek medical advice 20% less frequently than women.
In short, men are more likely to need medical advice, but less likely to seek it.
